Selection for top 16 and Driver Idol Event

27 March 2010, Mechanical Engineering Student Association organized an event regarding the selection for the top 16 who will be following to Melacca International Motorsport Circuit, Ayer Kecoh this coming 26th June 2010 at Automotive Lab UTHM. Registration counter was opened from 9am to 12.30pm.

Walk-In-Interview
Interested participant undergo 2 phase of test.

Phase 1:
Participant did General Selection Test where they have to complete 10 general question about UTHM Viva Eco-Challenge 2010 team in 3 minutes. The questions are listed below together with the answers:

1. What is the name of this program?
Perodua Eco- Challenge 2010

2. What is the type and color of the car used in this race?
Viva auto 1000cc, midnight blue color

3. When is the racing date?
26th of June 2010

4. Where is the location of the race circuit?
Melacca International Motorsport Circuit, Air Keroh

5. What is the minuimum weight of the car allowed in this race?
650kg

6. How much fuel to be used in this race?
1 litre

7. How many cylinders does the Perodua Viva have?
3

8. What is the type of brake used in the Perodua Viva brake system?
Front disc, rear drum

9. What is the engine type of Perodua Viva 1.0cc?
EJ-VE

10. How many valve per cylinder used in Perodua Viva car?

Phase 2:
In phase 2, participant will be tested their knowledge in automobile industry. A walk-in-interview conducted by 3 experienced lecturer and selection is done by them.

Driver Idol
As for Driver Idol, participant that registered their name at the registration counter undergo 3 phase of test in selection for Driver Idol.

Phase 1:
Participant did the General Selection Test.

Phase 2:
Simulation test at 1st floor of Automotive Lab where participant will be tested their driving skills. They are tested on maintaining constant speed through out the run, cornering, and handling. Each errors they did will be recorded for selection purpose.

Phase 3:
Myvi manual test driving. During this test, participant will be tested on their driving skills on road. During the test they are tested on maintaining constant speed at 20 to 3o km/hr, handling, cornering, braking, stall, and comment was by En Akmal.
